       Skull Project                                             ROL Semester 1

Picture
Our class is art. We learn different kinds of art by doing different kinds of projects. In this project I was able to learn the difference between values and textures and being able to create textures and values. This is valuable for my future for various reasons. One of the reasons are that you are able to know the difference is textures and values. Another reason is that you can help other people understand the difference. We were able to put dark and light values together to make different contrast. Which this created different parts of your skull to be seen more easily. This assignment was a project that we worked on for about 2 months. We had to have 20 or more different textures and 6 different values. We were able to put dark values with light values to make certain things pop-out more. For me personally it was very frustrating. I wanted to have certain textures that were related to each other. I wanted my skull to have a meaning of “sadness” so i had to choose “sad” textures. I also got smudges on my background, but I managed to make them into other drawings. Due to this project I was able to learn how to make contrast by putting dark and light values next to each other. I also learned the difference about textures and values. I was also able to fix mistakes. This work tells me about myself that I managed to have patience with this very long project. This made me realise that I learn better if I am patient and I brainstorm how I want my project to turn out. In this project i was able to represent my feelings. I felt like I was expressing myself not through words, but through my drawing. I feel that it was much easier to express my feelings on a project. I was also able to think critically and creatively. I decided to put something more unique that most students weren’t putting. I was writing on my project. I put poems and phrases of words as one of my textures. This artifact evidence demonstrates my success in the two SLO’s I choose because you can see that my skull is a very “sad” skull due to my feelings. You could see the textures were “sad” textures. In my writing I used it to take up space and it was more of a light value, but it counted as a texture. Two of the most important things I have learned in this class this year are learning to express myself through art and that there are so much more of art than just drawing something. My project had a meaning and if you look carefully you are going to be able to see it too. I didn't know that in art there was textures and values, but now I know. The skills I have learned in this class will help me in future by showing and teaching people the difference of textures and values.

ROL// Art History Presentation

During the Freshman Art class period 3, the learning objectives are to be able to present information about an artist work, also I would be able to analyze & explain trends in the artist’s body of work & how it relates to the elements of art. This is valuable to my future because i will be able to be more confident in presenting in front of people. I will also be able to make eye contact. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for Freshman Art Class & had the following learning objectives. I was able to analyze & explain the elements of art. Along with being able to present information in front of the class. These link back to the course learning objectives by accomplishing them & having a pretty good start.

The assignment or project was about choosing an artist & giving a presentation about them.  It required me to work with a group first before doing it on my own. Mr. Richards, my art teacher, showed us his example presentation & explained the DAIE process. He put is in group of 4 or 5 & we chose our artist from the short list he gave us. We worked together & we presented together. After that we ended up choosing an artist individually. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with learning the DAIE process. Then researching the artists artwork along with his medium, style & facts about him. I had to do the DAIE process in order. After i completed everything I had to go in front of the class & present my slideshow while the teacher was recording me which made me even more nervous. Throughout this process listed above I have realized I have learned how to describe a painting. This tells me that I learn better when Mr.Richards lets us do a practice presentation in our groups. Along with explaining the process.

The Two School Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this artifact are applying technological skills for the 21st century & thinking critically and creatively. I have demonstrated applying technological skills for the 21st century by creating a slideshow that I was able to present. In my slideshow I added animations to my slides that pointed out what I was talking about. This is important because nowadays we use more technology & I have used it properly. The Second SLO I demonstrated was thinking critically and creatively by doing a decent job at explaining the DAIE process. This is important because i was able to think critically & creatively. I mastered this SLO in my slideshow.I could have improved the SLO mastering skills needed in career and college better by not adding to reading off of the screen when presenting. Along with not adding to many sentences in my slideshow & being able to say my detail instead of writing it.

Overall the most important things I have learned in this class this year are being able to present in front of the class along with being able to describe, analyze & evaluate a painting. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by being to present in front of a lot of people along with having a professional slideshow (powerpoint).
